Universe Cell & Dish 'Live @ Five Show' with Glenn Curry

Heard daily on Watertown's AM1240, Glenn Curry offers an outside look at the top local and national issues.

Our Halloween Show included a visit from the 'Lovely Sharon'. Both talked about their experience at both area Haunted Houses this weekend. Plus, Glenn had some good things to say about Viggo Mortenson's 'A History of Violence' movie. Do some inner-city kids learn about the civil rights movement after the fact? Glenn seems to think so. Happy Halloween!

Are you attending the upcoming Mayor's Ball at JCC? Well if you didn't know anything about the event, you can learn more by listening to in-studio guest Rande Ricardson tell you all about it. Rande is excited about the first ever Mayor's Ball at the school and openings are still available. However, today's show took some strange paths, thanks to our newest 'annoying' caller dubbed 'Paranoid'. Others called too, a very entertaining show!

If you thought you had an opinion about the 'Live at Five' show, then you can't miss this one! You see after commenting about the Jeff Webboard yesterday, Glenn got an unbelieveable response from scored of 'bored' members. Glenn read many of the posts on the air and took callers regarding the show, its appeal (or lack of thereof) and took on others suggestions. Overall however, Glenn was elated with all the attention. A must show to listen!

It's time to get busy with the real issues at hand! That's exactly what Glenn intended to do today. First, the latest rumors about our refugee family from New Orleans, did the mother actually hock all of the items donated to her a day after the alleged murder? This and other stories were part of the show, plus 'Concerned Citizen' chimed in about old-time movie personalities. Duff called, he thinks the 'News & Talk Authority' is no better than other media when it comes to big local stories. Maybe he's right.

It's the 'Ray Canale 2 Show' once again on today's show. Ray had his opportunity to speak up about his last show at the Ramada. In the end though, it was Glenn & Ray talking to Border call-ins and the usual suspects. Some discussion about last week's murder and even a little about Glenn's trip to North Carolina this past weekend. Computer re-set at the end to today's show, which explains the delay.

Welcome to the 'Puppet Society' of Northern NY. Since the new Viggo Mortenson movie has yet to be shown in Watertown, it's very apparent we have to live by the decision of others. Our 'Walmart' ways dictate what we eat, what we build with, and yes even what we see at the movies. After this banter, several callers chimed in with their opinions about life including opinions on last night's council debate. Oh, it was round 2 between 'Dan the Democrat' and 'Gunnut'.

Issues, issues, everyone has some kind of issue to discuss on today's show. These issues included Nikki's parents who can't kick out some loser tenant from their property. 'Dan the Democrat' had plenty of issues, including the way right-winged radio hosts follow the current administration. Gunnit of course called and had issues with 'Dan the Democrat'. Then the 'Duff' called and had issues of his own. Glenn just wanted to know what some listeners had for lunch.

Fuel prices, government involvement and oh yes, will we freeze to death in our homes this winter? Just some of the topics on today's show. Big Steve, George and yes the Adam Center dude rounded out the list of callers today. Oh, don't bother ordering furniture over the internet, you just might die waiting. Friday's show was downloaded over 600 times!

Welcome to the 'Oprah Curry Show' with your so-called host! What can we tell you, Friday's show was downloaded 333 times! Now that's nice, and we thank the people at NewzJunky for their continued link. Today's show included Glenn's re-cap of Friday's show as well as other non issues milling about these days including a return of Ray Canale to the show this upcoming Thursday. Good trivia today, despite the fact that the 'Concerned Citizen' didn't even call today. Oh, how 'bout that Toledo story, can the blacks just get the representation they deserve and desparately need?!

What is it like to be a Gothic Kid? Well, when you listen to today's show, you'll find out exactly what the 'Goth' life is all about. As planned, Crazy Ray's son Shane along with his friend Billy stopped by to discuss the pros and cons of being a 'Goth' teen. Several callers chimed in including a 26 year old 'Goth' mom who favors the lifestylye. Good show, an educational show for Glenn too. Once again, you should never judge a book by its cover. Good kids, just dressed poorly.

Look what the mayor brought in to today's show, two girls from a sub shop. Now, this wasn't planned, but it worked out to be quite an interview with a pregnant 19 year old girl and her friend who came in to claim a money prize from the Border. Good insight to what goes through the mind of a young woman. Then we heard more about last Saturday's Ray Canale Show. You'll like this one!

Have the days of innocence been lost forever? That's what was the primary topic on today's show. It's funny we never thought that way in the 70s, but today we look at that period like it was a better time all together. Glenn's still tired from the Yankee loss, but has moved on to bigger and better things, nothing at all, it's just less confusing in the long run. Oz came in and got a musice test from the extravert, good show.

When you route for a winner, you have to expect to lose sometimes. Unfortunately, Yankee fans have been feeling the pain for 5 straight years now. Glenn was in the dumps all day about last night's dismal loss, but put his faith in the team in proper perspective. The show took another turn though when the 'Concerned Citizen' chimed in about The East Side Kids. Plus, Duff put in his two cents and Samantha called about VA hospital benefits. We'll get them next year...then again, maybe we won't.

Back in the Monday saddle again, and although Glenn had nothing of note, things picked up immediately today. First, Glenn had some thoughts about the single lane coming out of the new Kohls. Wow, is Arseanal St. gonna get even worse next year? A lot of fun with the extravert, plus even more fun with some Border callers, including a pregnant girl calling from Jreck Subs. Skip Howe put in his 2 cents too.

Wow, what a show we had today. First, Glenn had three lads from the upcoming movie 'The Coldest Winter' Director Mike and his two friends are quite excited about this Sunday's showing in Sackets Harbor. But wait, today's show had even more guests. Both Ray Canale and Tommy Penta came in to talk about their show on Saturday night at the Ramada Inn. Listen to the last 38 minutes of today's show, it's a classic for sure!

While the show went on the air today a report of a bad camper accident on I-81 was brought to Glenn's attention. Several callers including Real Rock's own Johnny Keegan chimed in with his on-scene report. Aside from that, the show went pretty smoothly today, until Dan the Democrat called Glenn an idiot for something. That's O.K. because Crazy Ray was then inspired to produce new hats banning Dan the Democrat from the planet Earth.

Topics continue to overflow from Jeff's Hotline Show to the Live at Five Show. Today's common topic was...Is the burger king dude in the commercials promoting homosexuality? Tammy from Pamelia seems to think so. Good chatter about the Red & Black and Glenn has some special words for the post-season New York Yankess.

Oh boy, first sorry it took so long to post today's show, but you'll like this one. It's once again all over the place from Ojo to Desparate Housewives to Supreme Court justice nominees it's all wrapped up in one show. Your typical Live at Five show has started off the weekend in rapid-fire style.
