Universe Cell & Dish 'Live @ Five Show' with Glenn Curry

Heard daily on Watertown's AM1240, Glenn Curry offers an outside look at the top local and national issues.

Thursday, November 30, 2006

It's a 'back to normal' show today in the AM1240 studio, as Glenn spoke with some old callers and one new caller. First, Glenn had to state how much he likes countdown shows, like the most shocking moments in Rock history on VH1. He also acknowledged a fantastic documentary about the Burma railroads during WWII. Crazy Ray had plenty to say, plus Glenn had some thoughts about sleeping at the wheel. This is when a new caller chimed in about her sleepy wheel experiences back in 1948. Programming note for tomorrow, the girls from the new Pewter Mug will be in to spice things up on a Friday afternoon. Don't miss tomorrow's show, and have fun listening to today's show.

Glenn was back from his chest cold with special in-studio guests this afternoon. The owner of the Montessori School, accompanied by proud parents came in to discuss the school's many benefits and features. Today's show also included 2 young boys, one of which is a student at Montessori as well. Good natured show, and yes Glenn had his usual swing on things too.

Got any good Thanksgiving stories, don't worry, Glenn had none from the weekend. He did however have a lot to say about his new favorite TV show "I Shouldn't Be Alive", which was on all day Thanksgiving Thursday. Aside for this, Glenn boasted about how well the new phone system is working now. What's up with the Christmas Parade? Can't Watertown do better than that? The Duff and Gunnut added their own words about this issue, as did Dan the Dem.

No phones?! What?! Oh well, Glenn made the best of it, especially when the 'lovely' Sharon came in to be today's co-host again. Good thing she did too, because she gave Glenn plenty of material. Glenn first started his endless banter about assassinations in America, then it turned into the Glenn & Sharon Show and culminated with funny Thanksgiving stories. Have a great Thanksgiving, see you on Monday!

One rant after another, and it wasn't Michael Richards doing the ranting! Glenn had plenty to say about 'Kramers' 'Letterman' appearance and a picture in todays' Times showing victims of a a bus crash. It seems there's been more robberies lately in the neighborhood. Glenn actually was looking forward to the Simpson book and interview.

Glenn is a lot of things, but he's not a racist! 'Kramer' from Seinfeld however is a racist, and Glenn directed listeners to scathing video of actor Michael Richards yelling the 'N' word repeatedly at a LA comedy club. Other than this, it was Glenn apologizing about being late, and the 'state' of radio was discussed with owner Jim Leven at the end of today's show.

Are you ready for some football? Well, there's some football chatter on today's show, including an indepth look at a local letter critical of the WHS football coach. The Duff gave us his 'two cents' about the article and community reaction. CK Cesereo chimed in with his 5 NFL picks for the week, and then Rock 100.7's Chili Walker came in for the first time to talk about the death of the Michigan football coach. Oh, Jim Leven gave us his football experience too, when he was allegedly a linebacker for Division I Northwestern. Have a great weekend!

Wouldn't you know it, the phones actually worked today! Glenn and the rest of the sales staff had an adventurous day selling inventory for January and February, but was still able to pull off another entertaining show. First, it was Jim Leven on the bullhorn, then it was intern Bill with his own 14 year old perpective on things. Glenn spoke with 2 people waiting on line at Best Buy for tomorrows' Play Station 3 sale. It was a good call, and a good way to see what goes through the mind of a person who really needs a video game fix for Christmas. See you tomorrow!

Phone problems for the first half of the show, but Johnny Spezzano came in to save the day. That's right, no phone calls because the system has a mind of its own, but funny none the less. Listen and enjoy, oh good call from a lady promoting a neuter benefit for dogs.

Welcome back! Glenn was out of town yesterday and couldn't do a live show. This created problems with some people who thought a portion of yesterday's show was happening today. Sharon came in for the first time in some time. Some chatter about the new computer system, the Mayor's Ball and Nancy Pelosi trivia too. See you tomorrow!

Say, the Pewter Mug opened its doors again, and Ezra was there with the 'live' report. Glenn made the comparison between Dr. Laura and Dr. Joy Brown today with 'Oz'. SU Orange fan dude chimed in and Louie from Bradley St. talks about his problem with the letter O and the number 0. This led to a re-enactment of a war zone with Louie, good stuff. Oh, Sharon had fun with fire today, find out why.

The new phone system is giving Glenn some good material. Today, he spoke about how difficult it was to record his own personal messages. Looks like more young kids are driving their parents cars too these days. Speaking of too, Glenn had some fun with callers today identifying the difference between there, their and they're. Also, to, too and two. This made for some interesting conversations with 'Crazy Ray' and 'Dan the Democrat'. See you tomorrow!

Glenn had his first day with the new phone system. Looks like it will work with a couple of adjustments. Way late getting this on the blog, but worth the wait, that is, if you're into another round of poly-sci again. Despite Glenn's efforts to squash this topic, it kept coming back. Jim Leven popped in and out today and some other dude challenged Glenn's political stance to great lengths.

It's Election Day, and Glenn had some final discussions about local and state-wide politics today. This edition was posted on Wed. so it's kind of funny to hear what everyone was saying before the results were in. Good bullhorn at the end, when Glenn had to fill time.

One more day, and this political chatter walks right out the door. Today, however, Glenn did have some decent (yet at times unreasonable) discussions with Dan the Democrat and others who have some real problems with the war issue. Oh, Glenn had some good bullhorn bites for Callaghan for Comptroller. Good chatter about the Gay Reverend in Denver, and the station will officially have new telephones this week!

Friday came on went, then it was off to the weekend. However, Glenn had a great time with various callers throughout today's show. Both Duff brothers called in as well as another woman who reminded Glenn it was Susan Brown, not Diane Rutherford who just got married. Good stuff all the way around from start to finish, including a quick rundown of 5 NFL picks from CK Cecereo. Have a great weekend!

Well a well-rounded show today and it included Jim Leven. Good stuff from the start including more John Kerrey talk with George, then intern Bill stepped into the studio. Then, Glenn created a new game, 'The 8 degrees of Jim Leven'. Glenn encouraged listeners to come up with celebrities and celebrity broadcasters that Jim DIDN'T know. See you tomorrow!

More Kerrey talk and Glenn saw Boston Legal last night and liked it. Then it was a good explanantion of an ROTC's status in the military. Which country shouldn't we invade for weapons of mass destruction? Good Election Day spots these days and don't forget to put your car in the driveway till Spring!
