Universe Cell & Dish 'Live @ Five Show' with Glenn Curry

Heard daily on Watertown's AM1240, Glenn Curry offers an outside look at the top local and national issues.

Thursday, March 29, 2007

What to talk about, say let's give away car show tix! Or let's discuss the war, or obesity or Samantha's walk to Alex Bay, if it's not worth talking about, let's talk about it. Listen to today's Thursday version with Samantha, Dan the Dem, both Duff brothers and Danny Francis. Oh, good call from the health care industry too.

Angry? Who's angry? Well, Glenn thinks Leo is slightly angry about things, including AM1240. But Leo and others still like listening to the regions' favorite afternoon show. Good stuff once again today, including the Shirly Winters story, video of a father attacking his daughter and 'Idol' talk again. Yes, Glenn loves 'American Idol' now, if you can't beat them, simply join the rest of the country.

Hey now, it's a solo Glenn Curry in the studio today. That is, until Jim Leven came by later on to chit chat about 'whatever'. Good stuff, including John Edwards and the alleged 'sympathy card'. 'Idol' talk and yes, 'Crazy Ray'. Plenty of 'Devil' innuendos too for some reason.

It's a very serious show today with our friends from the local 'Life Right' chapter. Both Bette Hartzell and Betty Ann Honan offered their view points about the abortion issue and its effects on our society. Many good calls throughout this very serious 'Live at Five' Show.

Let's be honest, if people are upset with the 'tech' difficulties, let them speak out. Oh well, just another problematic day in the studio, but many reasons to listen to today's show. Good conversations too with 'Dan the Dem' and 'Tami'. Tami acted as Glenn the host, as Glenn reported a biblical sighting through a bad phone line. Also, a former Watertown native gave his thoughts of last Thursday's show from Orlando. Good stuff!

Wait a minute, is this show on free radio or paid radio? After hearing what Glenn was talking about today, you'd never know it! Anyway, very entertaining show for the wrong reasons once again. Glenn got many callers, and yes the phones were actually functioning correctly! Good stuff regarding 'caught on video' stories, plus an indepth look at what conversations truly mean on the show.

Hey, we made it back to the studio! After a long delay and five days from actually being in the studio, Glenn offered some details about his long weekend. First, it was the South Jeff Girls in Albany, a look at Balston Spa's newest night club attraction and a celebration for Glenn's parents on top of a mountain. Good stuff despite the fact the phones are still a problem on 199 Wealtha Ave.

What a way to throw a party, that is, a Community Broadcasters party at the Ramada Inn, Watertown. Enjoy the longest 'Live at Five' ever, on the road with great broadcast clarity! Glenn interviews clients who know there investment is a 'wise' one when they advertise on our (7) radio stations. This is a once in a lifetime 'road' show with too many people to mention here. Simply listen and find out how things went from inside the lounge at the new and improved Ramada Inn on Arsenal St.

It's a semi-subdued Glenn this afternoon, with his DJ friend Dillon from time to time. Nothing too important, just good chatter from SU in the NIT's to Samantha's account of the annual 'Irish Festival'. Plus, more talk about Glenn's criticism of the wheelchair guy, and is Glenn proud of his Irish heritage?

Late, but not gone! That is the time it took to post today's show, sorry, internet crapped out upon uploading. Anyway, it was a 'concerned' version of the 'Live at Five' show. Is the neighborhood going to crack? This and other social issues with Jim Leven and great calls from Duff, Dan, George and the 'Intelligent Guy'. Sorry, no porn star today.

Odd beginning, but entertaining none-the-less. After Glenn rushed into the studio late again, he took a phone call from a former 'adult-star' Tianna Lynn. Tianna was gracious enough to explain her side of the business until Jim Leven came in with curious look on his face. It was all good though, and the show went into its normal mode for the rest of the hour. See you tomorrow!

Short show, but still worth listening, of course! Despite the fact that Glenn had to wait for the post game report from today's SU game, he managed to have an abbreviated show none-the-less. Listen and enjoy!

Slow news never stops the 'Live at Five Show'. Thus, Glenn made things up as he went along today. First, Anthony (through a ouigi board) warned Glenn about going through red lights. Then it was a one-sided discussion with Dan about the documentary of the lost Jesus tomb. The 'Duff' still thinks the station should be concerned with the phone system that not working. Glenn read a story of kindness to a military family which in turn reminded Linda Miles of the ASPCA of an act of kindness that Glenn himself once offered. Good show!

We had a chance to follow up with the boxing event that took place this past Saturday at the Fairgrounds. Members of the boxing club including 2 boxers that were involved this weekend came in to give thanks to Glenn and the entire community for their support. From there, it was a wait and see situation with the studio phone that just isn't cooperating these days. It should be working tomorrow, but for the second half of the show, it was the Curry Leven program again.

And in this corner, it's...Wow! Glenn had the newest members of an old sport to Watertown today! Several coaches and organizers from the Watertown Boxing Club stopped in to talk about tomorrow's big event at the fairgrounds. Glenn spoke about the club's impact on the community, plus we had the youngest boxer in town, along with his dad. Good show about the sport Watertown once held close to it's heart. Perhaps, those days are coming back.

If you liked J.R. Ewing, would you let everyone know about it? That's what people were asking Glenn about Councilman LaBauf's Times article, and his love for the 80s show Dallas. Then it was on to even less important stuff, including a conversation about men and women with Jessica, a useless discussion with Samantha, plus boxing trivia for tickets this Saturday. See you on Friday!

Let's listen to February's last show together! That is after Glenn deals with the board problems at the outset to today's show. Then, after a couple of jabs and curses, the phone and board cooperated. Jim Leven in to share his views while Glenn kept the callers thinking in between inuendos and social comments. Sorry for the delay!
